Finding my way back…

Stories move in circle. They don’t move in straight lines. So it helps if you listen in circles. There are stories inside stores and stories between stories and finding your way through them is as easy and as hard as finding your way home. And part of the finding is the getting lost. And when you’re lost you start to look around and listen.”

In 2010 I made a major change in ministry. I had spent the previous 18 plus years in student ministry and absolutely loved it with everything in me. I was in a megachurch world having the time of my life reaching students and helping them connect their lives to Jesus. It has been an incredible joy to see so many of those with whom I have worked with go off to college and end up serving in the local church, working in missions and on staff in churches. Yet, it was obvious to me that God was moving me to something different. My heart was stirring I felt God’s leading and I could tell through in-depth conversations with my peers and mentors that I needed to make a ministry change.

Over the last 7 years, I have spent my time in the role of lead pastor and executive minister. I have loved these roles and continue to develop myself in this regard. I have learned a lot and have had many opportunities to see God move and use me to lead in his church. I have failed many times as I walked through the last several years and God continues to pick me up and move me closer towards what he desires to see me doing.

It has been through this journey that I walked away from really doing something that I loved. I got so wrapped up in what I was doing in ministry and simply left behind this medium that I loved. I loved thinking out loud. I loved the community that was created. I loved the connections that it made. I loved the relationships that were developed. I loved sharing what I have learned with you.

So, I am “Finding My Way Back” to this world that I once loved and felt was a great place for God to use me. I am excited about rebuilding the site and sharing with you in the areas of creating leaders, coaching ministers, and cultivating disciples. I have an e-book that I hope to have out by June and several other things that I am looking to share with you.

Please watch the countdown and see what God has in store for us as we journey through this together.
